Non-Commercial Driver & Vehicle Requirements
Driver Requirements
- Must have a current valid driver’s license
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language and pass the Communication Test
- Be in good health and able to pass pre-employment drug test
- Have no more than one preventable accident within the last 12 months
- Have no more than three moving violations in the last three years
- Anyone incarcerated for 12 months or more must have Committees approval within last 10 years
- All Felony charges must have Committee approval
- No Sex Crime charges
- No Terroristic Threats
- Have no alcohol-related charges in a personal vehicle or drug possession convictions in the last five years and only one conviction of either in the last 10 years
- Have no drug distribution-related felony charges in the last 10 years
- Unless otherwise authorized by law, no person shall knowingly possess, have under the person’s control, convey, or attempt to convey a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance onto the premises or in any vehicle with the Bolt Express logo and DOT #
Vehicle Requirements
- Five years old or newer
- Haul between 2,500-3,000 lbs.
- A Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of less than 10,000 lbs.
- No dually vehicles
- Tires must be LT 225 – 265 rated
- E-Track freight restraints in the van are preferred
- Two straps for each skid
- A 96” Cargo area length
- Door opening needs to be 48” x 48”
- No window vans are preferred, or back and side windows must be tinted
- Valid Empty Weight ticket
- Plywood fastened to the floor of the cargo area is preferred
- All doors and locks must work properly
- No extensive damage to the vehicle
- Windshield free of cracks
- All lights, horn, wipers, and washer nozzles are functional
- Brakes are functional and have pad life
Straight Truck Driver & Vehicle Requirements
Driver Requirements
- Be at least 23 years of age
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language and pass the Communication Test
- Must have a valid class A or B license
- Have a state-issued Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
- Current license suspensions or revocations in the last six months must be accompanied by a written explanation and approved by the Committee
- Recent license suspensions shall not exceed three in a three-year period
- Be in good health and able to pass a DOT physical examination and pass a pre-employment drug test
- Valid Medical Card required by DOT certified physician; must not expire within 90 days and completed within the past 12 months; physicals must be self-registered in the state in which the driver lives
- Have never failed or refused a DOT-required drug or alcohol test in the past three years
- Have no chargeable DOT recordable accidents within the last 12 months
- Have no more than one preventable accident within the last 12 months
- No defined serious violations within the last 12 months
- Have no more than three moving violations in the last three years
- Three months over-the-road commercial driving experience
- If a driver has no experience, they may team with a driver that has the required experience
- They will be allowed to go solo once they meet the minimum driving experience, have no violations or accidents, and been approved by the Driver Trainer
- Must pass a road test

Vehicle Requirements
- Ten years old or newer
- DOT approved sleeper
- 22’- 24’ box length
- 4,000 lbs. or greater carrying capacity
- Box opening 96” x 96” or greater
- Minimum of two rows of E-Track, two load bars, and four straps
- Dolly legs unless the truck has tandem axles
- Dock High – 48” or better
- Valid Empty Weight Ticket
- No extensive damage to the vehicle
- Windshield free of cracks
- All lights, horn, wipers, and washer nozzles are functional
- Brakes are functional and have pad life
Tractor Driver & Vehicle Requirements
Driver Requirements
- Be at least 23 years of age

- Class E Tractor and Trailer combination with a 5th wheel/king pin combination
- Must have six months experience with a 53’ trailer
- If no experience with a 53’ trailer must have Committee approval
- No more than three commercial driving jobs in the last 12 months
- Must meet one of the following guidelines:
- Six months of verifiable experience
- No Gaps in experience and must be with the same company
- One year of verifiable experience in the last two years
- Eighteen months of verifiable experience in the last three years
- Twenty-four months (2 years) verifiable experience in the last five years
- Must pass a road test
